That Andrea Cicalese is a phenomenal violinist is a well known fact. His debut at the philharmonic hall last year was a triumph. And yet, listening blindfolded, once again one can not believe that the music coming from the stage of the Künstlerhaus is coming from a teenager. Cicalese's sincerity; his ability to structure beautiful melodies and embed them in the playing of his piano partner, Massimo Spada, is unbelievable. And he does so with a tone that is not only streamlined, smooth and rich, but has character despite all its beauty.

The soloist, who appeared in Pilsen for the first and certainly not last time played very confidently, accelerating even in places where most other violinists would have difficulty moving forward. His clear, logical and dynamically plastic play reached into soft dynamics, whilst never being overshadowed by the orchestra.
